Silence is essential in my videowork. Not nessecarily
the silence which indicates an absence of sound
but rather a silence which refers to mans inner
longing for harmony and stillness.
Most of my videowork contains human portraits
and images of nature. It is my belief that the
sense of longing and desire for inner peace stems
from our disconnection from the earth, the soil
and nature in general.
The silence in my videowork is evoked by a subtlety
of continuously altering images as well as an
easy rhythm in which images shade off into one
another. This brings about a sensation of continuity
without beginning or end.
Once cought into the rhythm of the moving imagery
a mesmeric silence leaves viewers with their individual
thoughts and reflections.
